Fantastic tour in Treviso

The first major tour of Rugby Club Zagreb in many years turned out to be a great success!

With a large number of participants, we eventually set off with a full 65-seat bus, two vans, and one car. In total, 85 people joined the tour – seniors, juniors, part of the women’s team, veterans, parents, and friends of the club.

We departed from Voltino at 8 a.m. on Saturday, and the atmosphere along the way was amazing. We arrived in Treviso, at the stadium, around 3 p.m. At 4 p.m., a thrilling match full of twists and turns began, in which the home team eventually came out on top. The Zagreb Lions supported the Treviso Lions, showing their solidarity with two large banners. After the exciting match, we were personally greeted by Benetton’s head coach, Kieran Crowley. Later, we headed to the hotel, where a hearty dinner awaited us.

The next morning started early, as our U16 team had a scheduled tournament with two Italian teams. With loud support from our Zagreb crew, the young Lions fought fiercely — recording one loss and one draw — before everyone sat down together for lunch. We exchanged gifts and kind words with our generous hosts, thanking them for their hospitality. We also invited them to visit us in Zagreb — something that will very likely happen soon. With heavy hearts, we said goodbye to our hosts and, after a quick supply stop at a supermarket, started the journey home. A large portable speaker kept the fun going the entire way, and one of the highlights of the trip was a spontaneous game of touch rugby next to a gas station.

Exhausted but full of joy, we arrived back where it all began around 10 p.m. on Sunday. An excellent tour that left everyone asking the same question: when are we going again?!
