Successful 7s Season for RK Zagreb Seniors
The Rugby 7s season kicked off immediately after a demanding and exhausting 15s campaign, and our team was eager to show its true worth. Despite having little time to recover, we wasted no time — preparations began right away. We focused on conditioning, speed, tactics, and cohesion, fully aware of how dynamic and demanding the 7s format is. Every training session was an opportunity to raise our game and strengthen team chemistry.
The first tournament took place on our home ground in Rudeš, where the incredible support from the stands was immediately felt on the field. The matches were intense and physically challenging, but our thorough preparation paid off — we played with focus, determination, and discipline. We advanced to the final convincingly, rotating the lineup without any drop in quality. The team’s depth and consistency led us to a well-deserved victory in the final.
Three weeks later, we traveled south, where RK Nada hosted the second tournament. Following our strong performance in Rudeš, we didn’t relax — we continued with intense training to further refine our play and be ready for the next challenge. Training sessions focused on details, reaction speed, and teamwork, knowing the competition would be even tougher.
The additional preparation time was evident across all teams — matches were tighter, contact battles fiercer, and the overall pace higher. Still, we stayed true to our game plan, controlled the tempo, and showed composure in crucial moments. In the end, we dominated both tournaments, gave young players the chance to shine, and brought the trophy home to Zagreb — with the youngsters proving they rightfully belong among the first team.
Congratulations to the coach and the entire team on winning the Croatian Rugby 7s Championship. With their performance this year, our players have shown they are ready for the national team cycle, and we look forward to seeing many Zagreb players called up to the Croatian squad.
