Match Announcement: Zagreb – Mladost

On Saturday, Round 6 of the Croatian Championship is ahead of us, and an even younger Lions squad will welcome the runners-up and title contenders — city rivals Mladost — to Rudeš. Due to the tight schedule, this match will also count as the Croatian Cup semifinal clash between the two teams, which means the challenge is twice as big for both sides.

This will also be a special, humanitarian match. The Zagreb players will wear pink socks to raise awareness about the dangers of breast cancer. Although such events are usually held in October, this one takes place in early November due to scheduling.

For the eighteenth year in a row, Europa Donna Croatia has marked the Pink Ribbon Day. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Breast Cancer Doesn’t Discriminate by Gender,” aiming to raise awareness among both women and men about the importance of prevention and self-care. Sadly, in the past year, 990 women and 12 men in Croatia lost their lives to breast cancer.

Because of this, Rugby Club Zagreb, in cooperation with Europa Donna Croatia, continues its efforts to highlight the importance of preventive screenings and early detection of breast cancer. Symbolically, the team will wear pink socks for the rest of the season. Anyone wishing to support this initiative can do so by donating 50 HRK to Europa Donna Croatia.

The third half, like the whole match and this praiseworthy campaign, will continue with the support of our sponsor, Medvedgrad Brewery and Pubs. Besides the pink socks, you’ll also be able to enjoy Medvedgrad’s new beers at promotional prices.

Everything’s set for a great event — come to Rudeš, enjoy some rugby, grab a beer, and wear your pink socks!

Let’s go, Zagreb!
