Third Mobility Visit Meeting Held in Brno as Part of the EU Erasmus+ Project “Rugby for Children”

Rugby Club Dragon Brno hosted project partners from Rugby Club Dubrovnik, Rugby Club Zagreb, Superkid, and Rugby Club Ljubljana. The project is led by Rugby Club Dubrovnik, which brought together rugby friends from three different countries to exchange knowledge and experience in developing youth rugby.

The third Mobility Visit meeting was part of a series of project activities aimed at helping partners better understand the capacities and working methods of other clubs.

The meeting began at the facilities of Rugby Club Brno, where the club’s sports director and head coach, Linda Vratnickova, welcomed the project partners. Linda guided the participants through the club’s meeting and social areas, where the discussion continued.

The hosts first introduced the guests to the history of rugby in Brno and the Czech Republic. Linda then presented the club’s organization, structure, membership, coaching staff, and training models, as well as its future development plans. The visit continued with a tour of the club’s impressive facilities, which include six locker rooms, a gym, a coaches’ room, a club pub, the main pitch, and supporting areas.

The conversation then shifted to sharing ideas on how to attract more children to rugby and keep them engaged through to the senior level. Comparing the clubs’ resources and approaches, participants concluded that Rugby Club Brno operates at a very high level of professional development, with excellent facilities, a quality pitch, and outstanding training conditions.

At the end of the meeting, the clubs conducted a SWOT analysis of the host club to evaluate its strengths and weaknesses and identify areas for mutual learning.

After the formal program, participants enjoyed a quick lunch before attending the Rugby Club Dragon Brno vs. Praga Praha match. Although the hosts were defeated, the guests witnessed a truly high-quality game.

The day concluded with a Gala Rugby Ball organized by Rugby Club Brno, attended by all project partners. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet Czech rugby legends — both former and current players, coaches, and staff — in a relaxed and celebratory setting.

Representatives from Rugby Club Dubrovnik expressed great satisfaction with yet another productive meeting and meaningful exchange of experiences. There is much to be learned from Rugby Club Brno, the oldest and largest among the project partners.
