Project “Rugby for Children” Kicks Off with Meeting in Zagreb

The project, led by Rugby Club Dubrovnik as the main partner, was officially announced at an online press conference held in Dubrovnik in November last year. It is funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Sports Programme with a total value of €60,000, receiving 100% EU funding. Rugby Club Dubrovnik is one of the few sports organizations in Croatia to have secured EU funding — a remarkable achievement, especially for a young club that has been active for just five years.

The project partners include Rugby Club Ljubljana (Slovenia), Rugby Club Dragon Brno (Czech Republic), Rugby Club Zagreb, and DSR SuperKid. During their working visit in Zagreb, partners discussed upcoming project activities, challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as examples of good practice and the importance of networking and sharing experiences between clubs.
Showcasing and exchanging examples of good practice, along with organizing a major final children’s event in Dubrovnik, are the key focuses of this EU project. Each partner will contribute at least three examples of good practice, which will later be compiled into a single document — serving as one of the measurable and lasting outputs of the project.

As part of the meeting, Mario Škegro and Filip Matković from DSR SuperKid presented the organization’s work and programs. Following this, a SWOT analysis of DSR SuperKid was conducted, allowing partners — each with different perspectives, environments, and working methods — to share insights and ideas for further growth, development, and new opportunities.
The EU project “Rugby for Children” will run until the end of 2022, featuring three more Mobility Visits — in Zagreb, Brno, and Ljubljana — before culminating in the final children’s event in Dubrovnik.
