Zagreb Players Represent Croatia in Rugby 7s

Hrvatska Ragbi 7 Reprezentacija

At the Rugby Europe Trophy Division tournament held in Makarska, several players from Rugby Club Zagreb made a strong impact representing the Croatian national 7s team. Following a successful domestic 7s season, four of our players were called up to the national squad: Marko Dujić, Ivano Šojić, Niko Vranešević, and Lauro Kostić.

Unfortunately, Kostić was unable to participate due to university commitments, but the remaining three proved their quality — especially Niko Vranešević. Vranešević emerged as a true team leader and, according to many, Croatia’s standout player of the tournament. The young medical student scored an impressive 77 out of Croatia’s total 112 points, accounting for 69% of the team’s total, and was instrumental in nearly every match.

At just 17 years old, Ivano Šojić showcased remarkable potential and maturity beyond his years. Head coach Anthony Poša praised him as a vital part of Croatia’s rugby future. Despite his youth, Šojić impressed with his composure, effort, and technical skill — a clear sign that a bright rugby career lies ahead.

Marko Dujić made a significant contribution with his consistency and reliability. Demonstrating tactical awareness and defensive steadiness, he often recognized key moments and reacted decisively. Having performed at a high level both in the Croatian Championship and here, Dujić once again proved to be a dependable and intelligent player — one every team needs.
